Acts of Resistance
On the occasion of “Acts of Resistance: Photography, Feminisms and the Art of Protest” at the South London Gallery, Laima developed an untitled performance responding to the exhibition. Using drumming, megaphones and voice, the performance explores moments of transition and vulnerability during processes of migration and motherhood Leyton draws from her own experiences of migration and those of Mexican artist Gabriel Orozco, who designed a garden for the South London Gallery.
The music is performed by Leyton and Iggor Cavalera with support from Eve Libertine and Jody DeSchutter. The costumes are by Liria Pristine, scent designed by Anelena Toku and visuals by filmmaker Pedro Küster.
